Your kids don’t need perfect.
Have you ever gotten frustrated with yourself as a parent because you fell short in some way?
- Maybe you lost your cool… again
- Or your words didn’t match your actions
- Or, you just seem to be lacking in daily grace with your kids
Let me remind you of this very important truth today–your kids don’t need a perfect parent. In fact, your kids don’t even want or expect a perfect parent. But they do need a godly one. And there’s a big difference.
Godly parents mess up, they fail, and they have past regrets. But they don’t live in the power of those failures. Godly parents allow past mistakes to motivate them towards future success.
- They’re willing to acknowledge and apologize when they mess up.
- They’re willing to extend grace like it’s been extended to them.
- They’re okay with settling for inconsistent consistency over no consistency at all.
Apart from God, there’s no such thing as a perfect parent. So just be a real one. A real happy one. A real, happy, loving one.
God never called you to be a perfect parent. He’s the only one who gets to claim that title.
But, he has called you to always be growing as you strive to become more like Jesus to your kids everyday.
So, as you go about your day, don’t forget—your kids don’t need a perfect parent. They just need you… to be Real. Present. Godly.
