Imagine taking your family on a long road trip:
- You map out all of the details carefully.
- You protect the ones you love by making safety a priority.
- You ensure there’s lots of good times and memories made.
- You even make large financial investments just to make the journey possible.
But… you never actually arrive at your destination. And, in fact, your family gets lost somewhere along the way.
No parent would ever consider this to be a successful trip.
Are we doing this spiritually?
However, many families unintentionally live life this way…
- We have plans for our kids’ wellbeing, growth, and safety.
- We ensure a happy and memorable childhood.
- We even make huge practical and financial investments of our time and resources into providing for our children’s needs physically, educationally, and even spiritually, etc.
But… what if we’re missing focus on the most important component of the journey—the DESTINATION?!
Let’s be completely straightforward for a moment. No matter how successful the journey, if our children miss the ultimate destination of Heaven, what else really matters!? The honest answer: NOTHING.
Our Greatest Responsibility
Christ is their only hope for salvation and eternal life. So may our steps along the journey point to and reflect that Christ is central to everything we do as a family, and that we are ultimately leading them to him.
Because, if our children miss heaven, what else really matters?
How could you point your kids to Jesus THIS week as their only hope?
- Do they know your personal testimony of how you came to know Christ?
- Are you regularly sharing the gospel with your kids and having gospel-centered conversations?
- Are you faithfully praying for their heart over their head?
I’m praying for you this week as you intentionally point your children to the One and Only—Jesus Christ!
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” -Jesus (John 14:6)
For the next generation,
