I don’t often get super personal on the blog, but today is different. And I’m asking for your help…

To many, she’s my wife, but to me, she’s my world.

I don’t brag on her nearly as much as I should or could. But I choose to today.

When most people think of Charity Linder, they might think of someone who:

  • Won a new car (Yes, really)
  • Is a great mother
  • Has a hard time saying no
  • Can be the life of the party if she wants to

But when I think of Charity, I think of someone who:

  • Is servant-hearted beyond the norm
  • Will cry for you and with you in secret
  • Will bend over backward to help others
  • Is not just an extraordinary human being, but my best friend

It’s who she is…

My mind is taken to just a few weeks ago when one of our children was having a really rough time with a situation. Their attitude was terrible. Their treatment of others was wrong. But in that moment, I witnessed a very beautiful thing. Rather than getting angry or frustrated, Charity called this child to her side, drew them close, hugged them, and loved them.

They didn’t deserve it. But unconditional love was gifted to them when they needed it most. It was a glorious picture of what the Heavenly Father does for us as His children even when we are having our worst of days, our most terrible of attitudes, and even when we’ve treated Him and others wrongly as well. He gently calls us to His side, wraps His loving arms around us, and loves us… unconditionally.

What I saw immediately after her loving an unloving child was this – the heart of that child was changed towards her, not against her. By seeing a child’s needs through their misbehavior, she was able to break down a wall with love and grace. Such Christlikeness was beautiful to watch.

Will you please pray for Charity?…

If it were up to her, others would rarely know Charity’s struggles or needs. She loves big but hurts small. But today, I’m asking for specific prayer for my wife.

A little over a month ago, Charity found out that she has thyroid cancer. Thankfully, the cancer is only in half of her thyroid, and surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning (1/26/21) to have the cancer removed. If all goes as planned, having only half her thyroid removed will be the best possible option for her to be cancer-free without any additional long-term side effects. This surgery follows on the heels of a heart surgery she had just a couple of months ago.

Thank you in advance for praying for her – my quiet warrior!

Pray for one another… the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.  James 5:16
