I hope your family had an amazing Thanksgiving last week. Ours did, and it was a great reminder of just how blessed we are. All of our kids were home, including many more that we call family.
This past weekend brought to mind an important but easily forgotten truth—someone else would love to have the life you’re living right now.
No matter what struggles you’re facing, what things you’d like to have that you don’t, or what you wish looked different in your life or family, don’t lose focus on the things that really matter.
Because when you focus on the right things, you begin to realize you have many things that others only wish they could enjoy—a home, a family, and not just the things you need, but many of the things you want.
So, this week, remember to…
Learn to love the life you have.
- Live with a heart of contentment.
- Embrace the power of forgiveness.
- Invest in your family like the gift they are.
- Rest in the goodness of God.
And as for those things you’d like to see different in your life (because we all have them).
Learn to create the life you want.
- Set some goals.
- Invest in a strained relationship.
- Be intentional with needed changes in your home.
- Always pursue becoming more like Christ.
The things you have are worth being thankful for.
The things you’d like to see change are worth the work it takes to see them become better.
As we strive to conform to the image of Christ in our lives (Romans 8:29), may our daily decisions of “choosing Christ” give proof that we are truly conformable.
As I heard one person say, If you focus on getting 1% better every day, or even every week, you’ll start seeing things dramatically change for the good over time.
Here are two quotes worth pondering:
“A mistake repeated more than once is a decision” -Paulo Coelho
But…
“An ordinary act repeated consistently over time creates extraordinary results.” -David J Schwartz
In your home and in your life, how could you better learn to love the life you have, while at the same time creating the life you want… for the good of others and the glory of God?
