Every night as we put our girls to bed, part of our routine is singing “Jesus Loves Me” while they brush their teeth. It’s the perfect length of song to make sure they actually brush long enough to get those pearly whites clean.
Of course, this is just one of the many small ways we try to weave faith into everyday life for our kids. And whether we realize it or not, they’re paying far closer attention than we think.
I was reminded of this just last week at church when our almost-3-year-old looked up at a mural of Jesus on the wall in one of the kids’ rooms and excitedly announced, “Look Daddy, Jesus and me!”
It was such a simple, unexpected moment, but it encouraged me. Our kids are soaking up the truths about God and His Word that we’re dripping into them day after day, and God is using even the smallest moments to draw their little hearts closer to His.
Whatever the daily drops of faith you’re pouring into your kids’ hearts—bedtime songs, dinner prayers, quick conversations in the car—be a leaky faucet. Don’t underestimate the power of those small, seemingly insignificant moments.
God is preparing your children for a lifetime of faith in Him, and more often than not, it starts with some of the smallest drops.
